Elizabeth Pierce, BSW, MSW, RSW
Executive Director


Elizabeth has been employed with Catholic Family Services of Durham since 1996, after having obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from King's College, University of Western Ontario, and her Master's of Social Work from the University of Toronto. Elizabeth started her work at the agency as a frontline therapist, providing family, individual, couple and group counselling, and was promoted to Executive Director in 2010.

Renee Ash, BSW, MSW, RSW
Clinical Manager


Renee has been a full-time employee of CFSD since 2001.  Renee began as a front-line psychotherapist working with children, adolescents, and adults, doing individual psychotherapy, couples work, as well as facilitating therapeutic groups.  In 2005, Renee moved into a supervisory position where she continued performing psychotherapy while supporting front line service providers in their therapy with agency clients.  In 2009, she was promoted to a managerial position where an emphasis on the administration and operations of the agency became a larger focus however most of her role comprises providing clinical supervision, instruction, and support to psychotherapy staff.  And sometimes she still sees clients.

Renee obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University in 1988, Bachelor of Social Work from Ryerson University in 2000 and Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto in 2001.

Joscelyn Henderson, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW
Clinical Manager


Joscelyn obtained her BA and BSW at McMaster University and worked for several years in children’s mental health and child welfare, and as the coordinator of the Ajax site of the Supervised Access Centre. She began working at CFSD in 2003 after obtaining her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Toronto. Since that time, Joscelyn has been employed at CFSD as a frontline clinical therapist, group supervisor and currently as a Clinical Manager. Joscelyn provides clinical supervision, instruction and support to the clinical therapy team.

Cindy Zamiska, BSW, RSW
French Language Services Supervisor
Psychotherapist


Cindy has been employed with CFSD since 2009. Cindy received her Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from McMaster University. Prior to working at Catholic Family Services of Durham, Cindy worked for Durham Children’s Aid Society as a Family Services Worker; Contact Niagara for Children’s and Developmental Services as a Bilingual Resources Coordinator; and for Family And Children’s Services Niagara in various positions including Intake, Family Services and Adult Protective Services.

Lynette Temmerman, MSW, RSW
Systems Supervisor and Group Therapist

Lynette joined the CFSD team in 2017, coming from the VAW Shelter sector with years of front line experience at Julliette’s Place in Toronto. Lynette completed her MSW and uses the combination of her practical advocacy experience and education to support women dealing with issues of violence.

Tracey Camacho, BA, MA, RP
Safer Families Supervisor
Psychotherapist


Tracey has been working at Catholic Family Services of Durham since 2007. She coordinates the agency’s Safer Families Program which involves conducting joint assessments with Durham Children’s Aid Society to families who have experienced domestic violence. Tracey is also a psychotherapist who provides counselling to clients who have agreed to participate in the Safer Families Program. Prior to her work at CFSD, Tracey worked as a counsellor with Family Services EAP of Toronto. Tracey obtained both her Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Counselling Psychology from McGill University.

Steve Burnett
Hub and Facility Manager


Steve joined the team at CFSD in 2020 and supports all agencies in the building through maintenance and upgrades to the facility. Steve comes to us after 22 years with General Motors of Canada and has recently retired from The Ontario Regiment (RCAC) after 22 years. At retirement he was a Sergeant, Human Resource Administrator. Steve is responsible for general repairs and maintenance, coordinating with contractors, and promotion/fundraising for the facility.

Jessica Hamel, BA, MACP, RP

Psychotherapist


Jessica joined Catholic Family Services in the Spring of 2023. Jessica comes with experience providing individual, couple and family counselling. Jessica has a playful, strength-based and person-centered style and pulls from a variety of different therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy and family systems therapy.

Krystal Olejko-Qaqish, BSc, BSW, MSW
Psychotherapist


Krystal began working at Catholic Family Services of Durham in November of 2019. Krystal obtained her Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Victoria and a Master of Social Work degree from Kings University College at Western University. Krystal is employed at CFSD as registered social worker/psychotherapist. Krystal utilizes a variety of evidence-based modalities to include EMDR, CBT, TF-CBT, and DBT informed interventions with an overarching focus on being client-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based.

Matthew Robertson, MSW, RSW
Psychotherapist


Matthew joined the Catholic Family Services team in the spring of 2022. Matthew is a Family Counsellor who worked in the mental health field in Oshawa prior to becoming a counsellor. Matthew brings a passion to work with children, youth and families through a laid back style. Matt uses motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and dyadic developmental (child / caregiver) approaches in his counselling.

Mimma Tolfo, MSW, RSW
Psychotherapist

Mimma began working at Catholic Family Services of Durham in 2005 after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts Degree from York University, and Master of Social Work Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Mimma is employed at CFSD as a clinical therapist, providing individual, family, couple, and group counselling.

Moon Naz, RP(Q), C.C.P.A, C.R.P.O., M.A.C.P

Psychotherapist


Moon is our recent CFSD team member who joined us in 2023. Moon has previous experience working in the mental health field with various populations including at risk women, adolescents, and men suffering from mental health. She has experience working with individuals suffering from concurrent disorders, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders. Moon specializes in DBT and uses mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy approaches in her counselling.

Natasha Scott
Psychotherapist


I obtained my BSW from Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL and my MSW from Barry University in Miami, FL. I have experience providing individual and family counselling. I particularly enjoy working with children, youth and young adults. I am passionate about serving all members of society, and share a special interest in making therapy accessible to people of color.  I have experience in utilizing various modalities for therapeutic approaches such as client-centered, strength based, crisis and CBT. My niche includes working with individuals who have experienced trauma, identity issues, anger management, conflict, and or displacement. My experience has been centered around clients diagnosed with depression, anxiety and or adjustment disorder.  My goal in therapy is to provide a safe nonjudgmental space for clients to grow, learn, play, process and express both their thoughts and feelings.

Nicole McElwain, MSW, RSW
Psychotherapist


Nicole joined the CFSD team in January 2021. She received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Carleton University and obtained her Masters of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier. Nicole has a passion for working with children, adolescents, and women who have been exposed to violence. Throughout her practice Nicole prioritizes using a strengths-based, client-centered, and trauma- informed approach. Nicole enjoys maintaining a playful and professional atmosphere that encourages client empowerment.

Sarah Thorne, SSW, RSSW
Gender-Based Violence Case Manager


Sarah came to CFSD in 2023 with a background in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, feminist approach. Sarah graduated from the Assaulted Women and Children’s Counsellor Advocate Program and the Social Service Worker Program and has been working within the VAW shelter system for the past 15 years. Sarah has worked with women from a diverse population and maintains an inclusive, client-centered work environment. Sarah hopes to support and empower women to live a life free from violence.

Sebastian Tirovolas MSW, RSW
Psychotherapist


Sebastian began working as a clinical therapist at Catholic Family Services of Durham in 2020. He works with children, adolescents, and adults, providing individual, couple and family counselling services. Sebastian obtained his Bachelor of Social Work at Ryerson University in 2011, before entering the field and working in Children’s Mental Health. In 2018, he returned to academia to obtain his Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. Sebastian uses an insight-oriented approach in his counselling, supporting his clients to ask questions, and look within themselves to answer some of life’s difficult questions. He is client-centred, and has a background in EFT, ACT, CBT, DBT and mindfulness-based approaches.

Susan Koshie, BA (Hons), MDiv, RP
Clinical Therapist


Susan began working at Catholic Family Services of Durham in 2018. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from York University and then a Master of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University / College & Seminary. Prior to working at CFSD, she worked at The Bridge in Brampton, Ontario with men who had been incarcerated, and then as a clinical therapist with Catholic Community Services of York Region. Susan is employed at CFSD as a clinical therapist, providing counselling for individuals, couples and families, as well as in group settings.

Tania McClean
Executive Assistant


Tania joined the CFSD team in 2008. She is employed at CFSD as an executive assistant, and is primarily responsible for Executive Director, Board of Directors, and administrative support, as well as relief for reception. Prior to working at CFSD, she worked in natural healthcare and customer service. Tania’s customer service background contributes to the warm, welcoming environment at CFSD.

Wendy Sachs
Client Care Navigator


Wendy Sachs comes to Catholic Family Services of Durham as a life long Durham resident.  She has a degree in Psychology from Carleton University and has corporate experience in Human Resources Management.  Most recently she started and ran a small business while navigating life with three busy kids.  She is excited to take on the role of Client Care Navigator as she aims to be of service to the Durham community.
