About Us
Catholic Family Services of Durham (CFSD) was founded in 1981 in response to the Catholic community’s identification that more support was needed in Durham Region for its residents. CFSD was established through Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto, and has become a vital part of the service delivery system in the Region.
The agency has always provided services to the entire community, regardless of beliefs. Our desire is to stand in solidarity with those experiencing difficulties and assist them in their healing journey through individual, couple, family and group therapy, addressing a wide variety of presenting problems.
CFSD is accredited with the Canadian Centre for Accreditation, and is a member agency of Catholic Charities (funded by ShareLife) and United Way of Durham Region. We receive our core funding from these organizations and from the Province of Ontario. The funding from the Province of Ontario assists over 1300 abused women and their families through our therapeutic programming.
Clients are asked to pay fees on a sliding scale, but no-one is ever denied service due to inability to pay.
Our clinical therapists all have Master’s degrees or the equivalent, and are required to be members in good standing of their professional regulatory college. Our clinical therapists only employ evidence-based practices in the work that we do.
