Specific programs that you can support:

General Donations

These funds are put to the area of most need at that time. These funds are typically applied towards our subsidizing our Counselling and Group Programs, Childminding expenses, or Therapy Resources.

The Mustard Seed

This is a client- inspired, volunteer-driven initiative created to help meet the basic needs of our clients. The program allows clients to access items such as a new pair of shoes, back to school supplies, or groceries for a nutritious lunch.

The Sister Pat Grant Award

The Sister Pat Grant Award was established in 2004 to recognize the twenty-five years of service that was given by Sr. Patricia Grant, IBVM, MSW as the first Director of Catholic Family Services of Durham. The award assists with education expenses for a woman who is emerging from domestic violence.

FundScrip Gift Card Program

We have been working  with FundScrip for a fundraising opportunity like no other!
You purchase gift cards at face value through us, and we get a percentage of that value! For example, if you Grocery  shop every week at Walmart, you could purchase a $100 gift card from us - you spend the same as you would on your groceries anyways, and CFSD gets 3% of that back!!! WIN WIN!!!
I am very pleased to let you know that we are now ready to take your gift card orders - with Back to School fast approaching, it’s a good time to be proactively shopping, while also helping us earn valuable fundraising dollars. At this time, we are set up only for “paper orders” - you give me your order and payment (we can process credit/debit over the phone if it’s better for you, or you can bring in cheques or cash) and we pay FundScrip.
If you are interested in purchasing gift cards, please contact Tania at

Annual Christmas Charity Drive

Christmas is a very special time of year, but unfortunately, it can also be a very difficult time for many families. Our Charity Drive can help to provide our clients and their families with food, toiletries, grocery gift cards and gifts for each family member. This initiative typically begins in early November.
